Manager of Academic & Collaborative Technology Support
Saira is the Manager of Academic & Collaborative Technology Support at the Centre for Teaching Support & Innovation (CTSI). She heads a team that is responsible for supporting instructors with existing solutions and identifying new solutions for both academic and collaborative services that include The Portal (Blackboard Learn suite), Lecture Capture and Webcasting services, Webinar/Webconferencing services, video-mediated communication services, plagiarism detection services, Microsoft Live/O365 collaboration suites, content-management and webspace services, among others. Support for these solutions include the development and coordination of resources and training.
Saira has a Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) from McGill University, a BSc in Environmental Science from Trent University, and is currently pursuing her PhD at OISE. Her research interests include examining online assessment methods beyond commonly used or traditional assessment practices such as tests and essays. She is also interested in enhancing student engagement online.
