Course Design for Online

The CTSI Course Design for Online (CDO) will introduce the principles of online course design to instructors who are developing a new course or revising an existing course for an online environment and who will be actively teaching in the coming academic year. Guided by CTSI facilitators and collaborators, you will commit to participating in activities over a two-week period in which you will work through the steps of the course design process, focusing on the online context, and will leave the series with the framework and tools for a newly developed or redesigned online course.

As a participant, you will be added to a Quercus course that includes five modules that model strong online pedagogy; you will learn about effective practices in online learning, and experience what it is like to be a student in that environment. The CDO will also include three synchronous (live) online workshop sessions where you will have the opportunity to share ideas with your peers and receive guidance from facilitators. Live workshops will be accessed through the Quercus course and build on the work of the self-paced modules.

Participation in the CTSI Course Design for Online will require a commitment of approximately 10 hours over two weeks.

Week One: July 12- 19, 2020

  • Complete five asynchronous (self-paced) Quercus modules: opens July 12th (approx. 5-6 hours to complete in total)

Week Two: July 20 – 24, 2020
