Tune into Teaching: Designing Assessments for Learning with UDL and GenAI

This session explores assessment design through the lens of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and the evolving role of generative AI (GenAI). Participants will consider practical approaches to assessment preparation (instructions, expectations, and framing), student demonstration of learning, and feedback and reflection, with attention to reducing barriers, supporting learner variability, and aligning assessments with essential learning outcomes. The session will also examine how GenAI may influence assessment design decisions across different teaching contexts. Through brief case studies and design prompts, participants will reflect on and refine assessments from their own teaching contexts.
