Facilitators:

Unsure where your responsibilities begin and end when supporting students with disability-related accommodation needs? Looking for practical strategies to navigate implementation challenges while maintaining course integrity? Interested in understanding when to act independently and when to collaborate with Accessibility Services?
In this session, Accessibility Services will clarify the instructor’s role within the accommodation process, including how accommodations are developed, communicated, and implemented under the duty to accommodate. The session will highlight key distinctions between accommodations and academic consideration, and between inclusive course design (UDL) and individualized supports. Participants will explore common pressure points such as extensions, notetaking, testing, and participation, using case examples to demonstrate how to balance access with essential learning outcomes through collaborative problem-solving.
