MarkUs is a web application for the submission and grading of student programming assignments. Its primary purpose is to provide Teaching Assistants (TAs) with tools to give high-quality feedback to students. MarkUs also provides a straightforward interface for students to submit their work, form groups, and receive feedback. The administrative interface allows instructors to manage groups, organize grading, and release grades to students.
MarkUs is provided to the University of Toronto by the Department of Computer Science at no additional cost.
Getting Started with MarkUs
The University of Toronto currently has an agreement with MarkUs that allows the tool to interact with Quercus. Each division of the University has its own policies and practices regarding access to, use of, and support for MarkUs.
Access requirements: MarkUs is enabled as an option in Quercus by default. However, your course must first be registered on the allow list before MarkUs will work.
To request access, contact instroft@teach.cs.toronto.edu in the Department of Computer Science. Access must be requested on a course-by-course basis.
Adding MarkUs to Your Quercus Course
Once your course has been registered, you can make MarkUs available through the Quercus course navigation menu.
- In your Quercus course, select Settings.
- Select the Navigation tab.
- Find MarkUs in the list of hidden navigation items and move it to the list of visible items. Position it where you would like it to appear in the course navigation menu.
- Select Save.
Students, Teaching Assistants, and instructors will then have access to MarkUs through the course navigation menu.
