Aligning assessment with course learning outcomes is crucial for student success. Outcomes clarify for students the observable pieces of knowledge or skills that they should demonstrate following the completion of an assessment activity. To further develop the alignment between learning outcomes and assessment, outcomes can be linked to rubrics. Rubrics are used to communicate to students the components and expectations for specific assessment activities (e.g., discussions, assignments, presentations). They can also help make grading faster and more consistent.

In this webinar you will:

  • explore the characteristics of effective learning outcomes
  • review different types of rubrics and identify effective criteria for each type
  • learn how to use Quercus tools to add outcomes and rubrics to your course and link them to an assignment
