Open Doors on Teaching
Open Doors on Teaching is a professional learning opportunity designed for instructors who want to deepen their teaching practice through classroom observation, reflective dialogue, and peer exchange. This initiative invites faculty members to observe an award-winning educator in action, experience their teaching approach firsthand, and explore strategies that enhance student learning and engagement.
By opening their classrooms, members of the President’s Teaching Academy—recipients of the University of Toronto’s President’s Teaching Award—share real examples of evidence-informed teaching, classroom facilitation, and student interaction. Each visit concludes with a facilitated reflective discussion where participants can ask questions, share impressions, and consider how to apply new ideas in their own teaching.
Open Doors fosters a culture of openness, collaboration, and continuous improvement across U of T’s teaching community.
"My biggest takeaway was seeing how intentional teaching design and student engagement come together in practice. The post-class discussion with Professor [ ] was especially valuable, offering thoughtful insights and practical teaching ideas."
