Themed Workshop Requests
CTSI is accepting requests from departments and divisions for locally delivered workshops focused on Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) or Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Each department or division may request one themed offering per academic year.
Workshop Topics
These sessions give instructors an opportunity to learn together within their local departmental or divisional context. CTSI’s facilitation team will deliver one workshop based on the unit’s selected topic.
Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI)
Units may select one of the following introductory or practice-oriented sessions:
- Introduction to Generative AI: Implications for Teaching and Learning
- Revisiting Learning Outcomes in the Age of Generative AI
- Assessing Design in the Age of Generative AI
- Orientation to Microsoft Copilot: Practical Applications for Teaching and Learning
Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
Units may select one of the following introductory or practice-focused sessions:
- Introduction to Universal Design for Learning (UDL): From Theory to Practice
- Applying Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to Curriculum Design
Workshop Formats and Lead Time
Option 1: One-Hour Webinar
- A concise online session introducing key ideas and considerations, followed by a brief Q&A.
- Minimum one month notice to ensure meaningful preparation.
Option 2: Two-Hour Interactive Workshop
- A more in-depth session offered in person or online. This format includes structured activities, discussion, and opportunities to apply the concepts.
- Minimum two months notice to ensure meaningful preparation.
What's Involved
CTSI facilitators will:
- Work with the departmental/divisional contact to tailor the session to the local teaching context
- Connect the departmental/divisional contact with existing resources prior to planning the request session
- Hold a 30-minute planning meeting to confirm details
- Deliver the selected webinar or workshop
If request, CTSI can also:
- Support registration through our online event management system (EVE)
- Administer a post-session reflection to gather feedback
- Offer a 30-minute follow-up consultation
How to Request
Departments or divisions interested in booking a session must complete the appropriate request form linked below. To support equitable access across the university, each department/division may request one themed session per academic year.
Before submitting the form, please ensure you have:
- The rationale for offering this local webinar/workshop and the context around the request
- The choice of priority area (GenAI or UDL), format (1-hour webinar or 2-hour workshop), and modality (online or in person)
- The faculty member or staff contact who will serve as the point person for planning
- An agreement from at least one instructor who is willing to act as a liaison to provide insights into the local teaching context and/or share ideas and examples with the CTSI facilitation team (Note: This person may or may not be the same as the point person for planning)
- For in-person workshop requests, confirmation that a minimum of 15 participants will attend
