How to Get Started

You can access the Accessibility Checker in different Microsoft 365 apps by following these steps:

  1. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote:
    • Go to the Review tab on the ribbon.
    • Click on Check Accessibility.

     

  2. Outlook:
    • When writing or replying to an email, go to the Review tab.
    • Click on Check Accessibility.

     

  3. Alternative Method:
    • Go to the File tab.
    • Select Info.
    • Click on Check for Issues.
    • Choose Check Accessibility from the dropdown menu.

  • Check for Accessibility and Fix Issues

    Once you have accessed the Accessibility Checker, follow these steps to use it:

    1. Review Inspection Results:
      • The Accessibility pane will open on the right side of your screen.
      • It will display a list of errors, warnings, and tips.
    2. Apply Recommended Actions:
      • Click on an issue to see why it might be a problem and how to fix it.
      • Select the down arrow next to the issue to see recommended actions.
      • Choose an action to apply the fix.
    3. Resolve Issues:
      • Go through each issue listed under Warnings and Errors.
      • Apply the recommended actions to make your document more accessible.
